Whoville, who doo's, wew hoos!

Well it has been an eventful and emotional past week. We are on the activities committee of a ward that is almost too thorough in details and planning, so the meetings for our ward Christmas party started last February and for the past couple of months been doing things all along the way, but for some reason when the day came it felt like pure chaos and nothing had been done. Fortunately everything ended up going smoothly and was actually a lot of fun despite the craziness of every minute leading up to the party that day. We did a grinch themed party thanks to my sisters friend who came up with it for their ward 2 years ago and my family did it last Christmas. It really is so much fun. Although I was bugged that my ward, being the older retired ward was not into the who doo's and pj wearing, they preferred to wear their Christmas sweaters and normal hair. So seeing that I was in the play as a who and I won for the best who doo last year, I thought I would go ahead and wear my who doo and boy did I ever stand out. I've never had so many people compliment me before in my life, so maybe I should do this on a regular basis. Aaron was the grinch in the play and did a phenomenal job, everyone raved about his performance. After the play kids could go up and get a treat from the grinch and get their pictures taken with him. Well, even though Kamaile was well aware it was Aaron (she was yelling "daddy" the entire play) she was absolutely terrified. I forced her to come up and get a picture and the entire time she was screaming bloody murder and frantically yelling "take it off!!!!" over and over again. We didn't have our camera with us so I wanted to try getting a picture with the "grinch" again at home while we still had the costume. We set the timer and since Maile wouldn't let him put the mask on he would run behind the tree and put the mask on without her looking, but there was never enough time and she never wanted to take her eyes off of him in fear that he was putting the mask on. Anyways, I thought these pictures were hilarious cause she was so terrified and it looked like the grinch was sneaking up behind us. It was fun, but it's nice to be done with it all.

Emmy's hair just wasn't quite long enough for a who doo so this was the best we could do for her.

Another event that has drained us emotionally is that Aaron received his offer from the border patrol. They called Friday and said we could choose between these 2 little border towns in Arizona - Naco (population of 850) or Douglas (pop. 17,000) they both have walls that separate AZ from Mexico and of what we heard the Mexico homes look nicer than the Arizona ones. Yikes! and just looking at pictures they looked completely desolate with nothing but dirt roads, there isn't even a ward in Naco. AHH!! I had a really difficult time for a little while and couldn't talk about it with anyone or even think about it cause my eyes would start to water and I would get a lump in my throat. When I finally brought myself to think and talk about it I had my emotional break down. The thought of moving away from all my family and friends is hard enough, but to know that we were going to some place in the middle of the desert made it all worse. Anyways to sum it up Aaron talked with a couple of people who have lived out there and come to find out there is a nice city with about 60-70.000 people, surrounded by mountains (making it 20 degrees cooler than Phoenix), and a really decent looking area that is only 30 minutes from Naco and 50 from Douglas. So, yay! there was our solution Aaron accepted the job in Naco and we plan to move to Sierra Vista. Before that happens though, he has to report on January 3rd for a 5 month training. AHHH! So, me and the girls are moving in with my parents for those long 5 months. It will definitely be an adjustment and really hard, but it would be much harder if I couldn't live with my parents during that time, so I consider us fortunate for that. I thought I was mentally preparing myself for all this cause I knew it was coming, but now that it is actually happening I'm having a hard time being positive about this new situation that will take place so soon. Hopefully this will bring Aaron one step closer to reaching his career goal and it will all be worth it in the long run.

Jess, I am way sad you guys are moving. It sounds like you will be in a cool area though, I didn't even know there were mountains in AZ. But, hey, Matt and I are really good about visiting people who live in surrounding states, so I promise we will make the trek down there. You can give us a tour of Mexico. Since you will be living so close to Mexico, if you have a baby boy, promise me you will name him Pablo or Jose.

Are you really leaving south jordan? Dang it! I hope your new adventure works out for the best...it always does. AND,I hope you keep your promise with Allie and name your son Pablo. Haha, that made me laugh. I love snooping on your blog. You really have the cutest little family and your stories crack me up!

Wow, that is extremely emotionally draining Jessie! But congratulations on the job, that's huge! I wonder how far you are from Vegas. And trust me, living in the middle of the desert requires major adjustments but it's not too too bad ;) You will probably find other families in your similar situation and go from there. Wow! And, you are so lucky to have your mom to live with. So is Aaron going to come home on the weekends? I think we are in somewhat similar situations.. living in the desert, without MY family, having Cody gone for four months in the academy... maybe we can vent to each other! But, you are so tough I'm sure you'll get through it just fine.
I too loved the Grinch pictures, so hilarious. I had to laugh out loud!
And one more thing, please do name your boy Pablo. Pablo Kerr has a nice ring to it. Why not? You name Kamaile after a Hawaiian name because that's where you lived... carry on the tradition- for the sake of all of us ;)

Wow, that's big. Moving to a new place far from people I know sounds so grown up to me. I hope it all works out. Your girls are too cute. Emmy's picture by the tree is stinkin' cute, I just want to squeeze her, in a good way of course.

Wow! I got stressed out just reading about your situation. That is alot to take in at once. Knowing you Jess, you will make the best of it and meet some great friends out there. YOu are very outgoing and optimistic which are great qualities to have when something like this comes your way. Congratulations by the way!!! That is very awesome that Aaron got the job!

Oh my heck Jess...that makes me sad that you're leaving! Even though we are far away, I hate that we will be even farther away from eachother, dang it! But way to go Aaron on the job. Just get these dang 5 months over with! Wow...I can't imagine being without Dave that long, you are strong. Thank heavens you will be with your family. Do you know how long you will be living in Naco? You might have already mentioned it and I just forgot. Anyway, tell Aaron good luck if I don't see him during Christmas. We'll see you soon! Hugs.

Wow, big news. I know what your'e feeling though. Being torn between supporting the hubby in his career and wishing life could take the route YOU want it to (i.e. staying close by fam and friends). I'm sorry Jess but sounds like you're on your way to a good attitude and I know the Lord will bless you as you love and support Aaron in his career as he tries to take care of his family. It's hard but should be worth it. hang in there!

Wow Jess... that is great that Aaron got the job! But super sad for you. :( It will be okay though you will make friends in no time... I mean... how could you not? Lets just be honest... You are fun, funny, spiritual, you know a lot about a lot of things, and most importantly you can eat a mean bowl of cereal and we all know how important that is! You are basically the entire package that someone could want for a friend. And if worst comes to worst... I am sure there are some basket's that you could weave even out in the desert. I heard that is a good thing to do when you are waiting to make friends... just what I heard though. Miss you tons and tons... BFF reunion in Utah Feb 15... will you be around?

Jess, I LOVED your christmas card! Thanks so much for sending us one. You are quite the poet!!! I can't believe how creative you are. How long does it take you to come up with that stuff? And I loved the added touch of the paperclip with the sparkly heart. ALSO, your family picture is perfect. You all look wonderful!

The deductible is the amount you pay out of your own pocket each year before your health insurance begins paying off. It seems more likely to me that this might have been the only real coincidence in everything that's happened so far.
